Well in order for tripple channel. Each channel has to have same amount of ram. So the blue slots all need to have 2gb. If you want tripple channel with all slots filled then the blue slots need 2gb sticks and the black slots need either all 1gb sticks or all 2gb sticks.

Do the sticks in the none blue slots need to be all the "EXACT" same type i.e. manufacture?
or can I use all 2 gb sticks same DDR3 same speeds etc and mix the manufacture's? 1 as the Hynix/Hyundia and the other two lets say kingston or crucial?

@Currly,
Actually, sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't. Normally to be safe the most you can mix and match is the blue slots one brand, the black slots another.
Also, check out the new sticky please.

Hey guys... I've been outta the loop for a few weeks... kinda hard when your NEW PC was in the shop forever... and comes back STILL broken... however, HP, was tired of fighting with me and offered a BUY BACK @ 100% of what I paid for it plus my tax... which was $1271.36. Sent the unit back last week, and should be seeing a check cut hopefully by this coming friday.
HP put me on a rediculous ban (i think it was a week and a half ban, and still got 5 more days to go before it's lifted... bastards... so big ups on this site to let us still keep in touch. Well, I am borrowing someone elses laptop for the night to actually do school work that i could've been doing with my e9180f... BUUUTTT... thanks to HP, I have had the most interesting 2 months.
As far as the lawsuit, I completed the forms, and they said that they were going forward on their class action suit. I obviousely am no longer part of it since they have offered to buy my unit back, BUT, I do hope that HP gets their asses sued and get some justice done for the little consumers who have had to endure all this stress for no reason at all.
I will continue to stay in touch until I get my check. Good luck to all the other users battling this one still... once I get my check I will be putting my own rig together (which is what i should have done from the beginning)...

Sit tight, monitor the lawsuit, and hope and wait for if they ever replace the motherbard. I will inform you when or if they ever do this, but there is talk.

Hello
I bought a e9150t system from HP at the beginning of September. I have had zero probelms with it so far. I leave my PC running 24/7 and it has not locked up, BSOD, etc. It seems that there was a bad run of motherboards, but only a small percentage of the systems were affected.
I found it really interesting to see that some of the people had trouble with 2-3 systems. I wonder if there was a certain HW combination, usage pattern, etc that was contributing to the problem.
RE: HP e9150/e9180 Computer Failures - eots2 - 11-17-2009
If you leave your computer running 24x7 you're not going to experience the cold start freeze these HP systems are prone to. If you want to make sure your computer isn't one of the lemons you should turn it off over night and then cold start it in the morning.

I have an HP e9180f and all I have had is problems with it first time I turned it on it told me Vista wasn't genuine so I called HP no problem sir we will take care of it. The next day it blue screened me within 15 minutes of turning it on. And since then all I have done is call or send it in. Once they had to fix something they said problem with MB but no details. The second time they told me nothing is wrong and sent it back. Then two and a half weeks later it blue screened again. and I was told I should expect blue screens once in a while and that some PCs do that. And I got mad and I don't swear but I came close I told him that I was pissed off. Well he agreed to have a tech look at it that was a joke. He was he for about 1 - 2 hours mostly putting a registry cleaner on it. When he left he gave me a card and that was on Monday Nov. 16, 2009 and then on Wednesday Nov. 25, 2009 I was reavaluating the PC perfomance and it blue screened again so I called him he said he would get back to me and that hasn't happened yet. I have written letters to and sent them registered to the Board of Directors of HP no reply I have emailed them and no reply just the auto reply. I just use the PC for my business and I am not a gamer if I was I would think it would blue screen even more. I have told the attorney link on this site about this I hope this gets the attention that is needed to get this problem solved. All I want is a dependable PC. Not one that has moods like the terrible 2's.

Hey, one thing that will amazed you if you haven't done so is go to is go to performance event log and look at all your critical errors along with just warnings and errors. click on computer, then on system properties at top then performance information and tools on left, then advance tools on left, then view performance event details. Make sure you are in Diagnostic Performance, Operational. I have so many it is an everyday thing it goes on even when I am using the computer. Hope you guys have a great weekend. By the way they HP keeps doing things with the BIOS and it seems to work for a week or so and then you get the Big Surprise Blue screen with crash dump, they have done it about 5 different times. Hey have any of you guys received a mini dump, I have also gotten those. You know when you spend over $1200.00 on a tower and cheap mouse and keyboard that doesn't say much for the machine when it doesn't work. I have even written ASUS and have asked them no rely as of yet.
right after the last post my computer blue screened again so I call the tech HP assigned to this case and he said it is a motherboard problem and is going to recommend that the motherboard be replace or a new computer. I will keep you advised. The Indian
