After unpacking my unit today from HP repair... i saw they repaired my HARD DRIVE although the last repair was the Mobo. Less than 3 hours after turning the damn thing on it pops off this BSOD:

I am calling that lawyer again tomorrow. I already spoke to them yesterday, but they told me to call them back if I have any further problems after repair. Well i knew i would, and i did. I did a little bit of research on this BSOD error code 101.. and some say this is directly linked to an overheating processor caused usually by defective mobo.
WTF!?!? I will also be calling my Case Manager "Joanne" who has been sending my unit to repair BUT tomorrow she will hear my bitch and yell until their ears bleed b/c i am really fed up.

The e9280t is the same exact hardware package as the e9180t. Only difference is it hasw Windows 7 OS instead of Vista. You may want to try something different.

I'm about to order the EVGA X58 SLI Micro motherboard along with the Corsair CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V Power Supply to fix my e9180t and would appreciate some of your expertise please...
Will I have to do any modifying to the case, i.e. the rear of the case for I/O's... sound, USB ports or does the boards provided plate interchange with what HP has in this case?
And I was wondering if I should purchase a different CPU cooler other than the HP cooler?
I'm desperate due to needing this computer to do my work...
Can't afford to deal with HP and their BS! I'd lose more money in the long run than replacing a MB and PS unless there is more to the picture then I'm aware of.
Again, any assistance is appreciated!

with everything you said.For the EVGA board the rear plate SHOULD be compatible, because they have to conform to the micro ATX standards, but we haven't got our EVGA board yet so Im not 100 percent sure. As for the cooling I think your quite ok. The i7 920 cooler did an okay job (round 40C, not bad at all) and the cooler on our i7 950 at home keeps things around 30C because its so large, (the only good news on this computer) So, I would leave the cooling, go for the EVGA, and pick out some pretty DDRIII RAM chips at 1600 speeds. YOu only really need the 6GB for speed, unless you use apps that require more than 6. Also, keep up to date on the class action lawsuit, because you may get some kinda comp afterwards.

ok, my blood is boiling now to realize 9280 is the same! I just got a flyer, 3rd week in Nov, Costco is going to be selling a bunch of the 92xx's inc that one. Such BS!!! So...they are lining up more suckers!?!?! They are doing a hard core advertising campaign here in CA, and I am just livid as I sit here with an e9180f paperweight. I think we should all call/send letters to the media and Costco. Make sure HP isn't able to release these. I am in total disbelief. I don't have a case manager. I am told there is nothing wrong with my computer. I am very grateful for your site. I was going to do the MB repair, but I called the atty to sign up & when my husband spoke with her, she told him to tell me not to replace the MB or do anything else to the computer. Is that what everyone else was told??? My husband is furious at me for buying this and not just building one so he may just be trying to keep me from putting more money in a sinking ship LOL.

Well, after receiving my e9180t back yesterday for repair, they did replace the motherboard. I turned it on this morning, went to work, came back for lunch and boom.......frozen. Still didn't fix the issue of course. What's weird is that my computer is showing as an e9180t on the system specs in Windows. But when I download Belarc Advisor, it shows as the e9150t. What the heck?
Plus my PC isn't registering 4GB of ram. I have 8GB but it only shows 4GB.

I bought my e9180t in late August. Just like all others straight out of the box I had BSOD errors and freezes. Would freeze up 2-3 times a week.
I was following the HP forum thrreads and when the notice came out I jumped and loaded the 5.22 BIOS . I did this for two reason. 1st I was hoping this would be a fix for the problems and 2nd HP listed the 5.22 bios as a NEED for Windows 7 upgrade which I have coming.
Would the older bios 5.13 or 5.18 support windows 7?
Was HP using this as a lure (Win 7 upgrade) to get people to load this new bios to hide the real issue and in the mean time slowing our performance?
Are you also saying that 5.22 truns of the tri-channel on the memory or did I misunderstand that?
I have 4 of 6 slots filled with 2 GB modules. Slots 4 & 5 are empty. I think the ood number and even number slots work together correct? Does this mean my system is only running dual channel?
I thought you had to have matched sets of memory modules?
I fI want to go to 12 GB do I have to buy exact types as already in system - same manuafcture part numbers etc?

Some nice questions. Actually the 5.22 bios MAY have the SLIC tables for Windows 7 upgrade, but I can easily add them to the older bioses. I was shocked when the 5.13 revert bricked our systems. We were able to flash back fine from 5,22 to 5,18 as many times as we wanted. The 5.13 was truly a speed demon. When everyone reverted the systemworked fine. Then after about a day it just magically stopped turning on. Ive never seen a bios flash cause this behavior. Normally if the flash is bad it will never post after the flash, in this case it took almost a full day for it to stop working, but when it was people reported things were loading fast like they used to. Sighs to HP.
For your RAM it is actually supposed to be PC-10600 running at 1066. It seems like they have been changing the RAM config, not the bios, to disable the Triple channel. To garuntee your tripple channel is working, populate all your 2gb sticks in the blue slots, and leave the rest out.

Why do you say leave the other slots empty?
Why not fill those with 2 GB modules also?
