RE: HP e9150/e9180 Computer Failures - kupo112 - 10-25-2009 Hey guys -- GREAT NEWS -- I filed the lawsuit complaint form, via the second post in this thread, and they called me back 2 days ago. They are going to push forward on a class action suit to help us out. Please spread the word so that people can file their claim too. The more people the better the claim. 95MUSTANG, i sent you a PM via HP site after i was given a 7 day ban on their site (and i didn't even post anything). HP IS DIRTY LIKE THAT. Even the Private Messages are being screened. So I thank the WIZ for setting this site up and allowing me to get the word out without being suppressed by HP (WENDY M or GARENT -- HP moderators). I will keep in touch -- and kudos to the person who put up that link (second post) for lawsuit -- that was a blessing!!! Kupo112 RE: HP e9150/e9180 Computer Failures - TheWiz - 10-25-2009 If anyone has the 5.13 bios and would like to help us, we would be glad to walk you through the steps so that other HP users have it. Tthanks, Chris P.S. Having the 5.13 bios will help in the lawsuit RE: HP e9150/e9180 Computer Failures - munsterman2363 - 10-25-2009 I just read the good news re: the moving forward with the lawsuit. I for one have only had my box since Friday evening and only experienced one lockup shortly after setting it up. However, I decided to setup sleep mode (something which I never do anyway but that's besides the point) and went to bed. I woke up this morning to the high pitch sound of the fan and the "HP" logo light along with the power button lit up in yellow... system was locked up. I had to perform a cold boot and everything was fine. I then decided to call HP and I first spoke with Tech Support, mentioned that I want to return vs. troubleshoot. He obliged without asking any questions and transfered me to customer sales support, of which I chose the option to speak with someone about a refund. I then was able to speak with a representative who was polite, giving me the option to either exchange for the e9280t with an upgrade in HD or request a refund. However, the build date was the 23rd of November and I would have to pay up front a $70 refundable processing fee. I told her that I would call back sometime today with my final decision. The reason behind thinking about it is first is to see what comes out of the 5.13 bios revert first. The second is to see if I can get another PC with abouth the same specs any sooner from another vendor, staying within the same price range. Third is to maybe purchase anothe MB as suggested by the WIZ, of which I've read reviews on and it sounds like a good board. Other than that any other suggestions are welcomed. Thanks again, Eddie "Munsterman" RE: HP e9150/e9180 Computer Failures - tmozer - 10-25-2009 (10-25-2009, 11:18 AM)TheWiz Wrote: If anyone has the 5.13 bios and would like to help us, we would be glad to walk you through the steps so that other HP users have it. I will try. Email me instructions (tmozer3@verizon.net). RE: HP e9150/e9180 Computer Failures - TheWiz - 10-25-2009 Thanks, so much tmozer, I sent you an email. TheWiz Also it be cool if you filled out your computer specs in your User profile in case someone needs a reference to them. RE: HP e9150/e9180 Computer Failures - TheWiz - 10-25-2009 Success! Thanks to David Kim on the HP forums we have aquired the 5.13 bios. We also thank tmozer for willing to help us out. First, prepare a bootable USB stick with the program to flash the BIOS ROM. Get out a USB stick and plug it in. Then download this utility to your hard drive to format and make the USB bootable. http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1525839/Progr...0Drive.exe (USB Utility) This installs the DriveKey program on your hard drive. Then download: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1525839/Progr...20Disk.zip (Image) and extract the files to a convenient location. Open explorer and select the DriveKey directory. Run HPUSBFW - RIGHT Click on the file and select Run as Administrator. When the window opens: Select your USB Device Check - Create Dos startup disk Click the radio button "using DOS system files located at:" Click the ... box and point to the files where you extrected the image. Once you have finished the steps above copy the AMI flashing tool to the USB found here: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1525839/Programs/AFU.exe Then copy the TRU5XX.ROM file you want to flash to the USB. 5.13: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1525839/Bios/TRU513.ROM 5.18: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1525839/Bios/TRU518.ROM 5.22: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1525839/Bios/TRU522.ROM You should now have a USB with two files: afu.exe and the TRU5XX.ROM file. Boot the USB: Restart the computer, hold the ESC key and select the USB as the boot drive. You will get the classic DOS prompt. C:\> Type "afu TRU5XX.ROM" and press Enter DO NOT INTERRUPT THE FLASH PROCESS OR TURN OFF THE COMPUTER!!! When it is done you will get another DOS prompt. DO a CTRL-ALT-DEL three finger salute to reboot You're done I just did mine, I'm now back to 5.13 BIOS mileysurprised: We take no responsibility for any problems you encounter. We will try to help, but the decision to reflash your BIOS is your's. That's It! TheWiz P.S. If you follow the instructions you will have no problems, I've flashed the same system four times with different versions with no problems. RE: HP e9150/e9180 Computer Failures - photogman - 10-25-2009 Just curious, Wiz, has anybody used your instructions and successfully flashed their BIOS back to 5.13? When it comes to flashing your bios, if you screw up, you are screwed or should I say, your computer is screwed. RE: HP e9150/e9180 Computer Failures - TheWiz - 10-25-2009 EDIT:: We have had flashing failures on some boards, so do not flash version 5.13. Thank you, I have flashed six times on my system with different versions without a hitch. And AMI bioses have a bootblock recovery where if it does mess up you can reload the image on the usb drive and it will search and reflash. But if you follow the instructions it works fine. I am a moderator/administrator over at biosmods.com, where all we do is flash bioses and modify and unlock others. TheWiz I updated the instructions above to make it easier to understand (Thanks Dad) First, prepare a bootable USB stick with the program to flash the BIOS ROM. Get out a USB stick and plug it in. RE: HP e9150/e9180 Computer Failures - beb2009 - 10-27-2009 I received a phone call from the attorney's investigating the class action suit. It looks like they may move forward if they can get more people to sign up. I urge everyone to sign up. I posted this message on the HP forum only to have it removed for violating their rules. RE: HP e9150/e9180 Computer Failures - ronaldb1 - 10-27-2009 Well the new Windows-7 9000 series has been out a few days now. Anyone have a report on those? I will be getting an e9280t in a couple of weeks and will report my experience with the freezing and the BSOD then, and what mobo and bios versions I get. Ron... |
