I am a super moderator over at biosmods, so I save all of these bioses my friend. Unforunatly I did not make an image for 5.13, but heres 5.18. Follow the USB isntructions above for success.Hey Wiz, I had the 5.13 BIOS but then I installed 5.22 when it came out even though my e9150t had been OK. I haven't noticed any difference. I'm not what most would consider a heavy user so maybe that's why. But do you think I should go for the 5.18 now or just leave well enough alone. RE: HP e9150/e9180 Computer Failures - TheWiz - 10-20-2009 No! If you could revert your computers bios to 5.13 and send it to me so that all the HP users can revert back I would be VERY pleased. Im not sure if on AMI bioses this can be done, but if you have a copy of 5.13 then I highly recommend it. The 5.18 is probably what you want to flash to if 5.13 isn't found, because 5.22 is GARBAGE. RE: HP e9150/e9180 Computer Failures - Ranger5 - 10-20-2009 Comparison Passmark Test Results on HP Pavilion Elite e9180t using BIOS 5.18 versus 5.22. Tests are on the same system with exactly the same updates using Passmark version 6.1 64 bit version. The motherboard is a Pegatron Truckee version 1.04 Revision 13. OS is Vista Ultimate 64 bit. RAM is 12 GB with 2 GB sticks in 6 sockets. BIOS 5.18 PassMark Rating: 2280.4 BIOS 5.22 PassMark Rating: 2183.1 I was expecting some performance degradation in HP's effort to gain stability but was hoping not to see a lot of degradation. I don't see a lot of degradation here. This suggests to me that if there has been a significant performance hit it either a) happened in an earlier BIOS upgrade than 5.18, b) is somehow a function of hardware changes between motherboard versions, or c) it is a difference not showing up in this software benchmark test, or d) the performance hit is happening in different RAM configurations. For comparison I had my project partner do a test on on a software optimized HP Touchsmart IQ800t with an Intel® Core 2 Duo processor T6500 [2.1GHz, 2MB L2] and with above spec RAM (8 GB) running Vista Home Premium 64bit. That system came in with a Passmark rating of 1059.9 I have another HP e9120y (AMD Phenom II) coming in the next week that was purchased as a potential replacement for this e9180t system. When it arrives, I will run a benchmark on it. ---BEGIN BIOS 5.18 TEST--- PassMark PerformanceTest 6.1 (http://www.passmark.com) Results generated on: Tuesday, October 20, 2009 Benchmark Results Test Name: This Computer CPU - Integer Math: 2020.2 CPU - Floating Point Math: 2443.4 CPU - Find Prime Numbers: 1085.0 CPU - SSE: 21543.2 CPU - Compression: 20707.4 CPU - Encryption: 126.1 CPU - Image Rotation: 7445.0 CPU - String Sorting: 11029.2 Graphics 2D - Lines: 177.4 Graphics 2D - Rectangles: 125.6 Graphics 2D - Shapes: 60.7 Graphics 2D - Fonts and Text: 315.1 Graphics 2D - GUI: 212.9 Graphics 3D - Simple: 2545.7 Graphics 3D - Medium: 752.4 Graphics 3D - Complex: 96.4 Memory - Allocate Small Block: 4125.9 Memory - Read Cached: 2252.0 Memory - Read Uncached: 2255.3 Memory - Write: 2374.7 Memory - Large RAM: 7416.7 Disk - Sequential Read: 97.8 Disk - Sequential Write: 88.4 Disk - Random Seek + RW: 3.4 CD - Read: 0.4 CPU Mark: 6190.5 2D Graphics Mark: 658.3 Memory Mark: 1362.1 Disk Mark: 685.6 CD Mark: 46.0 3D Graphics Mark: 1086.4 PassMark Rating: 2280.4 System information: This Computer CPU Manufacturer: GenuineIntel Number of CPU: 1 (8 Core(s)/CPU, 1 Logical(s)/Core) CPU Type: Intel® Core i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz CPU Speed: 2793.3 MHz Cache size: 256KB O/S: Windows Vista (WIN64) Total RAM: 12278.3 MB. Thanks for the benchmarks too. TheWiz RE: HP e9150/e9180 Computer Failures - munsterman2363 - 10-24-2009 [quote='TheWiz' pid='36' dateline='1256029602'] No! TheWiz Any luck on obtaining a copy of 5.13 yet? I just received my box and thought I would try it out. One thing I noticed is that it is definitely slower than expected. My DELL Precision 9200 Quad Core 2.4 w/4G RAM outperfoms this unit and it's 2.5 years old. I do believe the bios has something to do with it. Thanks RE: HP e9150/e9180 Computer Failures - TheWiz - 10-24-2009 Yeah on the HP forum someone has't flashed from 5.13 yet so Im trying to work with him to get the image file for everyone. keep your fingers crossed! Chris RE: HP e9150/e9180 Computer Failures - munsterman2363 - 10-24-2009 Thanks Chris! So far I haven't had any problems with the only exception; upon initially starting the machine and within the first 10 minutes or so it froze... no mouse, keyboard or anything. Outside of that along with updating to Vista SP2 I haven't had any issues except performance. Keep us informed once you get your hands on 5.13. RE: HP e9150/e9180 Computer Failures - TheWiz - 10-24-2009 For anyone who has a 5.13 bios please report back, follow the instructions posted, and upload the 5.13 bios so that users have some functionality back, and speed! First we need to prepare a bootable USB stick with the program to copy the BIOS ROM. Get out a USB stick and plug it in. Then download this utility to format and make the USB bootable. When it asks you for a image use the link to the image I have uploaded: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1525839/Programs/HP%20USB%20DOS%20Drive.exe (USB Utility) http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1525839/Programs/Windows%2098%20Startup%20Disk.zip (Image) Then once you have finished this step copy the AMI flashng tool(Were using it for backup) to the USB found here: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1525839/Programs/amiflash.com Restart your computer and then hit the Esc key to boot off the USB stick. When you arrive at DOS do the following: Type: awardflash.com Your first option that comes up on the bottom of the screen is do you want to save you bios. Hit Y and type the name you want to save it as (Ex.TRU513.ROM) Then when it says its finished hit the Esc key to exit. Hit Ctrl alt delete to restart. When back in windows open up the USB and copy the file that you named the bios. Upload that file ( should be 1MB in size) to a media sharing service, Dropbox is free and the best, or email it, or attacch it to your next post, so that we can start rolling back to 5.13. I would also appreciate anyone who has a 5.21 bios to do this so that I can do a full comparison on all of the bioses released so far. If we manage to get the 5.13 from someone, you can follow these instructions: Leave everything on your USB as you have it. Download and copy afu.exe to your flash drive: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1525839/Programs/AFU.exe Then when your at the DOS command and have rebooted, type afu.exe bios.rom (whatever your rom name is) and then let it rip! Make sure you follow what the program says. I appreciate your help, and I think everyone whould appreciate getting all the versions back. Thanks, TheWiz RE: HP e9150/e9180 Computer Failures - TheWiz - 10-24-2009 Update: scores posted on HP forum for 5.22 and 5.18. Pulling the 1GB sticks and putting the 2gb sticks they give you in the blue slots sped things up, and the 5.18 is slightly faster. Hopefully, well have the 5.13 on its way. Its sad we have to hunt for the older versions lol. TheWiz |
