RE: HP TX1000 Thermal Paste Mod (Fixes Overheating) - tajouri - 11-27-2010 hey there WIZZ, i had the same problem with my laptop (tx1000) and i took it to the repairs and fixed it... but the readings i get about the core and the GPU temp is not that comforting... GPU 63C to 82C core 37C to 53C noticing that no heavy usage of video is applied anymore (no GAMES or Heavy Graphical softwares) do you agree that these are not good temps? and what i would like to know is how long does this mod last (what is the interval between repeating this mod on the machine)? and i would like to express that this is great job thanks RE: HP TX1000 Thermal Paste Mod (Fixes Overheating) - Royal Tee - 11-27-2010 Followed your link from another forum, GJ on keeping this issue alive. I have a tx2500 that died 2 weeks ago afer 1+years. I've opened it once, it worked for a few days and bam, it came back. Black screen, Blue Flashing LED's. I'm going to order a shim and put it in. Hope it works. It's just so frustrating that a company can have problems w/ 1 model and continue to make the same mistakes in another all the while ignoring theor customers. Thx again, RE: HP TX1000 Thermal Paste Mod (Fixes Overheating) - Phistx1000 - 02-25-2011 Ok I have got a new one for your HP TX1000 dies I send it out to be modified. Works well for about 6 months and dies again. This time I buy a manual I dissassemble the unit clean the compound from the existing fix and use new artic silver ceramic compound. The issue is no wireless by the way. I complete all the work and still no wireless other than that there is no sign of any problems. Is it safe to assume perhaps the wireless card is bad in this instance? Do you have suggestions for checking the card to see if it needs repair? I appreciate any help anyone might be able to offer me. I paid for one repair do not want to pay for a second. RE: HP TX1000 Thermal Paste Mod (Fixes Overheating) - TheWiz - 03-01-2011 Het Phistx, I had the same exact problem. After using the mod about 2 1/2 years my WIFI just died cold. It is normally a mobo issue though and cannot be repaired with a WIFI replacement. However, the lawsuit for these tablets were won, so if you fill out a claim they are offering free tablets! https://roscomps3.securesites.net/www.nvidiasettlement.com/claimform.php TheWiz RE: HP TX1000 Thermal Paste Mod (Fixes Overheating) - hazly92 - 04-09-2011 I'm trying to disassemble my Tx1000 and am stuck at the audio/ir cable which connects via a Zif socket to the motherboard. can you show me the way to disconnect the cable? RE: HP TX1000 Thermal Paste Mod (Fixes Overheating) - adman3613 - 08-07-2011 when i go to https://roscomps3.securesites.net/www.nvidiasettlement.com/claimform.php i get a page error .... thoughts? RE: HP TX1000 Thermal Paste Mod (Fixes Overheating) - TheWiz - 08-14-2011 The deadline to return the original notebook computers was July 18, 2011. We are unable to accept computers sent after July 18, 2011 or provide any replacements for computers sent after that date. RE: HP TX1000 Thermal Paste Mod (Fixes Overheating) - marcos989 - 11-16-2011 I tried the hairdryer fix, no luck but then in all the posts here and http://forum.tabletpcreview.com from which this thread began I have yet to see in 25 pages of posts what temp. needs to be applied to reflow the GPU solder. Anyway, after giving up on deceptive inept Brazilian and Tunisian techs I finally found some reliable folks in the UK. My tx is now working. I have been using it on an inclined base with 3 fans and so far so good. Until last night it shut down due to heat. I figured it was dead again and it would have been the last time. However it booted right up today. I notice that for quite a few messages after a poster claimed black paint will help the fins dissipate heat nobody has challenged that. I fail to see how the color black aids in heat dissipation. Running Sync Toy with an external HD, the comp. verticle and slanted to the fan on the high side my CPU temp came up to 100c. Switched to balanced from performance, it helped some. If all continues to operate well I will open it up and attempt the fix after I can get my hands on the copper shim stock and the paste ( I live in Brazil, don't know what products are available here). Finally, I have not seen anybody recommend drilling holes through the bottom case to increase airflow but a youtube video recommended that. I plan to only use this comp. married to my desk and always on a cooling fan base. Wish I could upgrade to 7 and expect it to be reliable as I tote it around the world but I fear unreliablity. Anyway thanks to all for your posts. |
