Empire at War EAW and FOC multiplayer Fix
Post: #1
Recently, gamepsy servers have caused the Star Wars Empire at War and Forces of Corruption expansion to freeze and experience login problems while connecting to online play. To resolve this, I have written a patch that will end these issues.

To get the Patch: http://computerlimbo.com/downloads/EAW%2...0Patch.exe

To Donate for a Successful Fix: http://computerlimbo.com/donate.html

Thanks,
TheWiz

Hi

First of all, thank you for making this, i really appreciate it

I successfully applied your patch and now EaW online works correctly, however I'm still experiencing problems while trying to connect with FoC, the game freezes for about 3 min before i can enter the chat room.

Do you know why this may be happening only with the expansion?

Regards

Hi jyrkimx,

Seems like there could be other servers affecting FoC. I will make a special patch for you and see if you can get it working.

Thanks,
TheWiz

This is going to be a proccess of elimination, but here we go.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1525839/In%20Pro...0Patch.exe

Once downloaded, open it and hit uninstall, which will remove the old patch. Then after it says the uninstall was successfull hit the install button and try your FOC and see if you get dice. If not, I will need you to try the following:
Open up your control panel in windows vista/7 and go to the resource montior. Collapse all of the tabs but network. Then start the game and when it freezes ctrl alt delete to get back to your screen and start writing down everything that appears on the monitor for swfoc.exe and post it back. Hopefully though this patch will hep you.

Well I'll start by saying thanks a lot for your work and investigation into this very annoying on-line related problem, TheWiz. Big Grin I suspected corrupt files, DirectX issues, and even failing hard drive. Never had I suspected those admittedly odd Chinese messages. It did of course, not make sense that only the on-line portion of the game failed to work for me.

I confirm that the latest patch above worked for me on a Windows 7 32 bit system, however the same patch did not resolve the issue on another computer with a Windows 7 64 bit system, it will still freeze at the message of the day screen for that one. I did install the RAM fix provided by LA to be able to play FOC on the 64 bit system in the first place. I'll try to report why this is possibly tonight, thanks again.

Thanks Archvile,

I tested my patch on two 64bit operating systems and it did work. Please follow the instructions i posted above your post and lets see if we can't find what needs fixing for your boxes.

Thanks and welcome to the forum,
TheWiz

Hey jyrkimx,

I have updated the patch with the additional information shown in your resource manager, hopeflly it will fix things for you. It comes down to finding the problematic server.
